Sudan Office

GPST3, who has passed the AKT and SCA, and I am due to complete my CCT in August 2025. I have a strong commitment to primary care. After graduating from medical school and completing my internship in Sudan, I joined the first cohort of the family medicine training program at Gezira University, Wad Medani, where I also obtained my master’s degree. Soon after, I moved to the Gulf to work as a family physician, during which time I also completed the MRCGP INT. Dedication to primary care in Sudan: As a Sudanese doctor who grew up in poor, deprived rural areas, I keenly sensed the importance and the strong need for primary care centres. This led me to establish Almadina Health Centre in Alshawrab, Sudan, which is now well-established and provides affordable and accessible health services. Support to GP trainees in the UK: Like many of us, I have informally mentored and supported numerous fellow GP trainees in their training journey. I have also participated in some presentations with SBPCA, encouraging doctors considering GP training and supporting those with offers to navigate the process smoothly.

As a member of the SBPCA, I would like to be involved in the academic office to help my colleagues, the fellow Sudanese GP trainees, achieve success in their training and, importantly, pass their exams during this short, condensed, and focused training period. I would also like to be involved in the Sudan office. As the founder of Almadina Health Center, I am already directly involved with primary care in Sudan and can offer practical solutions and suggestions that could help improve our people’s healthcare. When I joined the SBPCA in 2021, shortly after starting my GP training, I received enormous support, which helped me maintain resilience and navigate my training smoothly and confidently. I feel that helping just one trainee overcome a problem or even directing them to the right resource would be satisfactory for me. I hope to be an active member of the SBPCA EC.
